Poster for the French swashbuckler comedy 'Cartouche'/'Swords of Blood' (1962). Directed by Philippe de Broca. Starring Jean-Paul Belmondo, Claudia Cardinale, Jess Hahn, Jean Rochefort, Marcel Dalio, Philippe Lemaire and Odile Versois. On the poster an illustration of an outlaw (Jean-Paul Belmondo as Louis-Dominique Bourguignon alias Cartouche) wearing a blue hat, a white shirt, brown trousers and black high leather boots and holding a musket in each hand (on the left) and a woman (Claudia Cardinale as Vénus) wearing a red dress and also holding a musket in each hand (on the right).
Collage of three frames from the French swashbuckler comedy 'Cartouche'/'Swords of Blood' (1962). On the top: Close-up of a brown haired man (Jean-Paul Belmondo as Louis-Dominique Bourguignon as Cartouche) wearing a white shirt (on the left) facing a brown haired woman (Claudia Cardinale as Vénus) wearing a red dress (on the right). They're both lying on hay in the back of a wooden cart. In the middle: A brown haired man (Jean-Paul Belmondo as Louis-Dominique Bourguignon as Cartouche) wearing a white shirt and red trousers facing two opponents on both edges of the frame (with their backs to the camera) for a sword fight inside an inn. At the bottom: A highwayman (Jean-Paul Belmondo as Louis-Dominique Bourguignon as Cartouche) wearing a black hat, a white shirt, a red jacket, red trousers and black high leather boots standing on a road in a forest in front of a tree cut down as a makeshift roadblock. He's just fired a musket into the air that he's holding in his right hand.
⚔️ Robin Hood-esque swashbuckler set in 18th century France with surprisingly somber tragic ending given how light-hearted #Cartouche otherwise is. Unfortunately the comic elements were a bit too slapsticky and plenty for my taste even though I'm usually a sucker for swashbucklers. #SwordsOfBlood 📽️🎞️
