We're about a month early for the breeding season of Fat-tailed Dunnarts (tiny carnivorous marsupials) but if food resources are up to scratch (and pretty sure they are at #SydneyZoo) then these cuties will breed opportunistically. It seems we may have several tiny dunnarts gracing the zoo soon!
They're very cute, but also special: important forest engineers in the wild. There were once millions of koalas along the east coast, ranges and slopes of Australia eating 2% of the canopy cover, increasing sunshine on the forest floors and pooping day and night to fertilise them. #nature #SydneyZoo
