(1) 📣 Shout out to Symbiota Support Hub (SSH)!
SSH has been a GBIF #Node since 2022 and supports more than 1,900 biological collections using #Symbiota software to manage and publish Darwin Core-aligned data to GBIF. 💻
#Symbiota team in SLO! 🥰 Last week, we visited our colleagues at CalPoly to review a very productive year and continue planning for 2026 🌿🐞☀️. We are thrilled to keep working to enable the #digitization of many collections in the US (and around the world 🌎). More about us ➡️ symbiota.org 💚
You can already check our #LivingData abstract in @biss.pensoft.net about the use of #Symbiota portals in Latin America 🌎 (slides in Spanish) biss.pensoft.net/article/1773.... One more abstract about our @guatemalaportal.bsky.social is in production. Stay tuned! 😁
Our abstract for #LivingData about the use of #Symbiota portals in #LatinAmerica is out! At least 140 collections in 12 countries are actively using the portals 🥰. So far, less than 40% of collections in the region are available anywhere online. We'd love to help! 💚 biss.pensoft.net/article/1773...
If you missed any of our #Symbiota talks/posters, they are still available in the #LivingData platform! We'll also submit extended abstracts to BISS so you can check every detail later 💚.
Moving to the Grand Hyatt for #LivingData! Don't miss my poster (Wednesday) and presentation (Friday) about our work with #Symbiota digitizing collections in #LatinAmerica! 🌎
October has been full of #Symbiota adventures in South America 🌎💚. It started last week in Peru🇵🇪, where we held a digitization workshop in collaboration with UNMSM Natural History Museum and Yale Peabody Museum. Around 80 participants from all over the country attended. We had a blast! 🌿
It's #WeevilWednesday! Perfect day to introduce our #Symbiota Weevil Portal! Still under construction, but already with some data. This beautiful Curculio, deposited in #KUSEMC, was originally digitized in #Specify and has been mobilized to our portal 💚. ➡️ weevil.symbiota.org/portal/colle...
One of my major motivations is sharing specimens I study with researchers around the world 🌎. None of this would be possible without the amazing support from #iDigBio and #Symbiota. Here are some of the collections also mobilized to #GBIF and @bionomia.net 💚.

Today, we are celebrating our Independence Day in #Guatemala. I'm proud to keep contributing to my country from afar, helping local collections to share their data online 🇬🇹🌎. Thanks to the #Symbiota team for making it possible, and to the amazing #BiodiversityData community for their support 🥰💚.
#LivingData is quickly approaching 😱. Who is going to Bogota? 🥳. Who is attending remotely? 🌎. You can't miss our presentations (in English and Spanish) about #Symbiota and our collaborations with collections all over the world to make their data available 💚🌎.

I had a wonderful time with the collection managers in Guatemala, sharing some updates about #Symbiota and our @guatemalaportal.bsky.social. It was great to visit the collections and learn more about their biodiversity projects 🥰🇬🇹🌿🍄🐞.

The #Symbiota Support Hub recently moved to the University of Kansas. Most of the team works remotely, but we met here at KU earlier this month 🥰. Lots to do, great new colleagues (Specify, Biodiversity Institute), and a growing passion to continue supporting collections everywhere. Stay tuned! 💚
We are still working hard to update and maintain our @guatemalaportal.bsky.social 🥰. Look how beautiful this species page looks with digitized records, maps, publications, conservation assessments, and the amazing CC0 images shared by the Smithsonian NMNH ➡️ biodiversidad.gt/portal/taxa/... #Symbiota
It's been a lovely break in Guatemala 🥰. Today, I visited some collections and shared some special souvenirs with curators and volunteers. Thanks to #Symbiota, #iDigBio and all the biodiversity data community for all the support to our digitization efforts 🥰. See you all soon at KU!
Wonder where our specimen records are headed? You can find digitized collections from the DigIn project in #InvertEBase, a specimen data portal powered by #Symbiota.

Wonderful results in the US from lots of initiatives and projects enabled and supported by #iDigBio 🥰🥰🥰 (including #Symbiota 💚).
Did you know Arizona State University has a mollusk collection of approximately 140K specimens? It’s currently managed by a dedicated Volunteer Curator and Biodiversity Knowledge Integration Center staff.
