So I'm gonna end with this. To the fans creating drama over Max's casting, put yourself in Max shoes and think about what you would do would be If people used the word 'gay' to harass you when you're not gay? Be kind to eachother. People need kindness not hate.

A child's mind is impressionable. Thee fact that an adult used the homosexual label to harass a child lead the child to believe that being gay was wrong. Max may have felt that if homosexuality didn't exist he wouldn't be getting harassed.

My parents were always saying I was trying to be trendy by being gender queer. I spent a long time thinking I was gay because that's what everyone said I was. And I have tried to kill myself several times.

I'm a masculine presenting asexual biromantic female, and as a child was harassed by classmates because I didn't show any interest in boys or girls. To them it ment that I was gay or broken

You could tell Max felt sorry for his behaviour and was using a public platform to apologize for his mistake. We he didn't really have to do. Lets be honest if we hadn't watched #THCEP1 we would have been none the wiser.
Like @milephakphum said, I would like to find that teacher but unlike N'Mile I just want to beat some sense into them. I think a similar story was told in #TharnTypetheseries. Type was homophobic because someone harassed him and throughout the series he changes and grows. #THCEP1
While I don't speak for the community as a whole, I would like to talk about the fact that a teacher, someone who is supposed to nurture and guide, harassed Max to the point where he became homophobic. Max was 12 for goodness sake. How can you justify that?

People often forget that people can change and grow. The Max we saw in #THCEP1 is not the same 12 year-old Max who made those comments out of no doubt sheet hurt and frustration.
So #THCEP1 had me feeling all kinds of things but not in the way you're expecting. The fact that Max had the courage to share this story amazes me. There has been criticism of @milephakphum for casting Max which is absolutely ridiculous.
