#TorontoWriters, #TOwrites because I believe in these feeds, I may as well contribute!
There's a paradox of practicing #strategicforesight in government and public administration. Does the creativity required threaten bureaucratic systems?
Feeling really proud of this piece and looking for more feedback so that I can expand the work.

A handwritten first draft that reads: The heat from the sun-baked asphalt seeped through Jack's flip flops on the way to the grocery store. His mother would never believe him if he told her he needed a new pair because they melted on the sidewalk. She'd accuse him of being irresponsible and blaming everyone else for his problems like she always did. To be fair, he was in the third year of what was supposed to be a two-week layover in her basement. The fuzzy pink insulation stripping from between wooden beams itched hives into his skin when he stumbled against it in the middle of the night when he got back from the bar. The couch was somehow always damp, and the singular square of window did nothing to bring light into the room because it was coated with 20 years worth of dust and dried bug corpses tangled in long-abandoned spider webs. He would have preferred his own room, but his mom had celebrated his departure from home a tad too prematurely, and had converted it into a red-velvet coated love room that she played games in with her new lover, Dave. Ugh, games. Ugh, Dave.
I volunteered at Humber's open house today with the BCPW program at the Lakeshore campus! Managed to knock this bad boy out during the flash fiction workshop. I don't know if I'll do anything with it, but any day where I write something is a good day. #TOwrites
Okay, I got it now!
