∴ taking it up-stairs bounding on counting-game treads risers of choosings ripple beneath feet hands trail, skimbrushing the bifurcating bannister up there they say come-see not see-what toys, paint-chipped unnestled from the manyfold ways scatter’d outside lines of each other’s apprenticed discoveries older than slumbertime, younger than sense and we go, it and shoes in hands mis-counting balusters how many upsee daisies till curiosity decoheres the child-inside branches into plural keepings the adult remembers playtime-chalk-marks scrawled rite-truthings 'cross next-story floorboards up, up forget which way is higher reach set it down fingers find brass-patina twist / pry / yield the hinge-time opens dust-motes in slant light ride in on a wooden horse, one wheel missing the smell of cedar and forgetting this house of selves, ours breathing beyond & beside ∴

Upstairs I am approaching that tight corner of being old: no one sees early the exact bumpy nature of this land, I guess any breathless pulls of you up the stairs will end, instead be replaced with a more prosaic, stripped back plain out of breath… (unless a Stannah stair lift can power up and allow the energy it will save to still sometimes kiss?) That strange intermediate time coming before one us is perhaps confined to an over-heated room with a single downstairs bed.

The Clothes on the Stairs It’s not that I can’t take them myself. It’s that you walked past them ten times or more and didn’t even notice. You didn’t see the work waiting to be done. Just like you don’t see the work already done. The pile on the stairs is not lazy. It is not work left undone. It is work that has been. Clothes that have been gathered washed dried ironed folded. Is it too much to ask for someone else to notice, to lend a hand, to start the cycle again? To take the damn clothes upstairs.

This is a mighty good prompt, Paul ♥️ have a great week.
Convenience puts pots and glasses on the top shelf so he has to stretch to reach them. They wobble precariously. Buys the heaviest vacuum cleaner so his arms ache when he lugs it upstairs. It has the shortest lead, or the battery is flat. He packs as many delicate ornaments as he can on the smooth surfaces so he has to remove them when he polishes. His shower curtain is held in place By half full shower gel containers that fall off as he moves to get clean. Water splatters everywhere as he balances the bottles on the side to hold down the wafting curtain.
