Sous les parachutistes, un vaste paysage s'étend, formant une mosaïque de champs verts et bruns sillonnés de fines lignes, probablement des routes ou des haies. Une légère brume sépare la basse atmosphère de la terre. L'horizon lointain, aux douces nuances de bleu et de gris, suggère l'altitude immense. La palette de couleurs est dominée par le bleu intense du ciel, le rouge et le bleu vifs des combinaisons, et les verts et bruns feutrés de la terre en contrebas, le tout rendu avec une grande netteté. La lumière, typique d'une journée ensoleillée, illumine la scène de façon uniforme.
