IC 5146 The Cocoon Nebula - telescope processed image. IC 5146, the Cocoon Nebula in Cygnus, is a stellar nursery (~15 light-years wide) with emission, reflection, and dark nebulae where new stars are forming.

IC 5146 The Cocoon Nebula - unprocessed image. It gets its name from being a bright emission/reflection nebula surrounded by a dense, dark cloud (Barnard 168), like a cocoon hiding new stars.

The second observation from last night on the s50 is #IC5146 #TheCocoonNebula. This image also makes me wonder what the results would be of leaving it overnight. #seestar #S50 #space #astronomy #amateur
