#TheTwister documentary on Netflix about the 2011 Joplin tornado hit me really hard emotionally, especially the end with Obama's commencement speech.
I'm watching #TheTwister seeing the fear in the people's eyes as they're retelling their stories all these years later is a testament to how powerful and horrifying this was.

I thought for sure that tornado would've taken thousands of lives.
Thank goodness it didn't.
But, 161 people didn't survive.

Just looked at The Twister on Netflix and it's an extremely well made documentary with really great storytelling and visuals.
A must watch at a time when there is widespread dismantling of critical US weather services and climate change denial.

Just watched #TheTwister on Netflix, a fantastic documentary about the Joplin tornado, and at the end, Obama gave a speech at their high school, and it took me out. I was bawling. I couldn't even imagine the current administration being uplifting in any measure during such a catastrophe. Miss him.

Idk if yall watched #thetwister but Joplin, MO is my hometown. I was in that tornado. Luckily the house I was at had a basement. If not for that we all would have died. It was pure chaos. Literally bodies in the streets.
Funny aside: I was in a band with Mac. Him and Kaylee are great people.
This is a gripping documentary on Netflix. Tornados seem to be glamourised on screen but the reality of a really deadly one is depicted here. People in the eye of it, lots of footage. Terrifying. #Joplin @netflix.com #TheTwister
