#ThisNightIllWatchYour VHS rip of Nigel Dick's PRIVATE INVESTIGATIONS (1987). Never seen this one before. Curiousity piqued by the soundtrack LP I keep seeing in my local record store. Co-scripted by #JohnDahl.
Half an hour in and enjoying the heck out of it.
#ThisNightIllWatchYour Blu-ray release from Eureka Video of one of my fave films, Sergio Sollima's REVOLVER (1972). Glad the Stephen Thrower interview quashes the old rumour that Oliver Reed was dubbed by another actor; it's so obviously Reed's voice.Feels as timely as THE MATTEI AFFAIR. #poliziesco
#ThisNightIllWatchYour online stream of PERMANENT MIDNIGHT (David Veloz, 1998). Takes me back to that era in the 90s when themes of addiction were rampant in US films (BAD LT, PULP FICTION, GRIDLOCK'D, etc). Ben Stiller is actually very good in this role.
#ThisNightIllWatchYour Blu-ray release from @blunderground of George A Romero/Dario Argento's TWO EVIL EYES. I was disappointed w/Romero's "Facts in the Case of M.Valdemar" at the time but GAR's take on the story has grown on me over the years. It needed time to marinate, I guess.
#ThisNightIllWatchYour Criterion Collection Blu-ray release of Monte Hellman's RIDE IN THE WHIRLWIND (1966). This one always lived in the shadow of THE SHOOTING for me previously, but I think in my middle-age I find WHIRLWIND to be the more resonant film.
#ThisNightIllWatchYour German Blu-ray release from Explosive Media of the 1968 Italo-Western MAY GOD FORGIVE YOU… I WON’T.
#ThisNightIllWatchYour Blu-ray release from @FilmsRadiance of Riccardo Freda’s THE HORRIBLE DR HICHCOCK. Have loved this one since first watching it on the old Stablecane VHS back in the 1980s. Super pleased to have the choice of variant edits in HD.
#ThisNightIllWatchYour Criterion Collection Blu-ray release of Albert Brooks' LOST IN AMERICA (1985). I loved this one; it drew a good handful of belly laughs. The depiction of the corporate mill is hugely on-point, Brooks is on form, and Julie Hagerty is cute as a button.
Last night I revisited #AbelFerrara's DANGEROUS GAME (1993) via US Blu-ray release. I never quite understood the criticisms of this; it's one of my fave Ferrara films (and Ferrara is one of my fave filmmakers, so...). Madonna is pretty good; James Russo is excellent.

#ThisNightIllWatchYour online stream of CHINA MOON (John Bailey, 1994). Last time I watched this marvelous #neonoir was on a 4:3 videotape in the 90s. Such an excellent film w/a wonderful cast. Ed Harris, Benicio Del Toro, Charles Dance, and the lovely Madeleine Stowe are all superb.
#ThisNightIllWatchYour Blu-ray release of the director’s cut of #TonyScott’s REVENGE. Not seen this director’s cut of the film before.
#ThisNightIllWatchYour online stream via the BFI Player
of Dominik Moll's LA NUIT DU 12 / THE NIGHT OF THE 12th (2022). I've enjoyed all of Moll's features since seeing WITH A FRIEND LIKE HARRY at the cinema back in the day, and this one is no exception. Definitely worth watching.
#ThisNightIllWatchYour online rental of Jafar Panahi's NO BEARS (2022). Wow! This begins strongly, with a heavy metafictional element; and then as the narrative progresses, the screws tighten, building to a gutwrenching denouement. Plenty of food for thought. Outstanding stuff.
#ThisNightIllWatchYour rental of Neil Jordan's MARLOWE (2023). Other than the digital matte paintings, I liked this. Found I enjoyed it more as narrative developed. Some excellent secondary performance (Alan Cumming, in partic.) Neeson is solid as Philip Marlowe - haunted and w/a strong ethical code
#ThisNightIllWatchYour 4k UHD release of Marino Girolami’s ZOMBI HOLOCAUST from 88 Films. Not seen this one for a number of years.
