Black and white night-time shot of the entrance area of Timberline Lodge with a huge snowdrift up until the top of the roof (equivalent of 4 floors). The sky is completely black and the scene is only lit by the big flood lights installed.
Monday night dinner at The Shining...
(Literally... a snowed-in Timberline Lodge in winter of 2018, the drive up there very much like the scene in the movie, 2+ meters of snow on either side of the road and a huge snowdrift reaching up to the top of the roof […]

‘WPA Camp, Larch Mountain Road, Mount Hood National Forest. WPA workers lived in a nearby tent city while building Timberline Lodge. United States Forest Service photograph. 1936. Timberline Lodge is six thousand feet up on the south slope of Mount Hood. According to WPA records, its building costs totaled $695,730 in 1936–38; 20 percent of the cost was for materials and the remainder for labor, 90 percent of which was from the WPA (the workers lived nearby in a tent city). Building trade laborers received the top rate of ninety cents per hour, and unskilled laborers fifty-five cents per hour.’ —Roger G. A daytime photo of a snow covered mountain with a wispy long thin clouds flowing right over it's tall peak. The sky is otherwise uniform overcast cloud. Snow fields, and glaciers dominate the mountainsides, with occasional dark rock outcroppings contrasting. The lower slopes and surrounding lower mountains are covered in dark conifer forest, with patches of snow visible on open ridges and timber clear cuts. In the foreground to the far lower left are several darkly contrasting alpine trees.

Oregon's #TimberlineLodge was built with WPA funds during the Depression. They hired artisans, wood & metal workers, weavers, carpenters and more to build this amazing place high up on #MountHood. FDR himself came to the dedication. Check out this episode! youtu.be/xvmGLR3StD4 #oregontravel
Two backpackers stand alongside a paved trail in the sunshine. A rocky and snowy peak is to their left with a few evergreen trees in the middle distance. The backpackers are standing behind a sign that says “Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail Number 2000. Canada 550 with an arrow pointing left and Mexico 2180 with an arrow pointing right. This means we were over 1200 miles into our hike.

If you're a fan of #StephenKing #TheShining like us, visiting #TimberlineLodge is a fun adventure. It was used for the exterior shots of the Overlook Hotel in the movie. It’s a beautiful, historic lodge with epic views of #MtHood. Definitely worth the trip! #Oregon #PNW #TravelAddicts #BlueSkyTravel
Caught a glimpse of Mt Hood on the drive in, one of those views that makes you forget you’re supposed to be watching the road. An hour later, I was actually on that same mountain, hiking behind #TimberlineLodge

Getting our ski on at Mount Hood! #timberlinelodge
Took a long weekend last week so I could go up to #timberlinelodge for a few days!!! I only recorded the first day, but the Mile (top route) was open, and I even got to take the Alpine trail straight down to the nearest town. Overall, a picture-perfect day!

An old Irish tradition is to open all your exterior doors at midnight to let out '24 and bring in '25.
I will do that tonight.
And it continues to snow up at Timberline.
