This field is a short walk up the hill from the house. Today’s walk was alive with heady scent, buzzing bees, and skylarks.

And, miraculously, both kids practiced beautiful music this evening w/ very little prodding, and the student thesis I'm reading is shaping up so beautifully. Even more #TinyJoys
Kid no. 2 is having little break throughs understanding geometry and cosines, Kid no. 1 is so happy now, kitties are snuggled down, and the house is peaceful. #TinyJoys
It’s April in Toronto. I ate dinner on a patio tonight. #TinyJoys

Daffodil bloom with six medium yellow petals arranged around a small medium orange cup, wi d-tossed in this photo. A brick wall is blurry in the background
Hyacinth “City of Haarlem” is starting to bloom in a beautiful lake yellow, its starry flowers stacked on its short stalk
Crocus blooms fading in white, pale lavender fading to white, golden yellow, and royal purple surround Turkish glory of the snow, which has starry bright blue flowers with white centers. All these flowers are very short
Tulip “Duc Van Tol Red and Yellow” is a very short tulip with bright red petals edged in bright yellow. This year it is even shorter than usual because of our weather pattern of chilly days mixed with warm weather
More is opening in the garden with the sometimes warm weather the last few days. This tulip was in gardens by 1595. (Our recent alternately chilly and warm weather has led the already short tulip to bloom on an even shorter stalk than usual.) #FlowerReport #BloomScrolling #TinyJoys

Yesterday I attended my favorite annual concert, with this year’s theme especially meaningful to me personally.
For the encore, they played what Savall called “a song for peace,” “Amazing Grace” led by the same singer who’d sung the slave songs.

Having done a further coat of paint on shed/summerhouse i’m now taking ten minutes to watch the Blue Tit parents provide their young with breakfast. #TinyJoys #wildlife #nature

This photo shows a batch of homemade chocolate-chocolate-chip cookies cooling on a wire rack above a tablecloth.
Between my post-international-travel M.E. crash and the nasty virus our whole family picked up afterwards, it had been way too long since I'd had the energy to bake - so it felt *really* good to get back to it today. ❤️
My favorite way to spend a Sunday!

Top overnight #NatureNews is Stumpy has annexed the corner #hedgehog house as his own. Been busy backwards and fowardsing with grass and leaves to add to the meagre bedding we provided. #TinyJoys
Sitting on sofa with a coffee, ready to review overnight #hedgehog pics from wildlife cam. #TinyJoys
(The Blue Tit and Robin parents are busy provisioning their young in the bird box and nest I can see from my vantage point.)
Doomscrolling break. Give this clip your full attention before hitting 'play'. And while we should not ascribe human emotions to wild animals, I suspect we will agree on which hedgehog deserves our sympathy and which one is a prickly little sod!

I got to see Jeff Hiller at San Antonio Book Fest today #tinyjoys
#TinyJoys, indeed!

Top news from the garden wildlife cam… Stumpy the #hedgehog whose foot was injured last year has returned. He has healed and survived! Go Stumpy 🦔 #TinyJoys
Please enjoy (video has been checked by Smudge’s Hedgehog Rescue, and they agree he is in good health and thriving, no intervention needed 👍)
The undergrowth in a small wooded area. There are little cones of moss grab the attention, a closer look showing that each is developing a tree sapling. Mostly birch, I think.
Look at these little stalagmites of moss, each creeping up a tiny sapling, like giving each a set of woodland armour.
