a rectangular indent on the insides of the snip grip, two symbols, one looks kind of like an M, the other looks kind of like... a weird duck. Or a backwards integral sign with a beak and dot that looks kind of like an eye, facing left towards the M.
...some sort of forge mark on the inside of the grip?

The head of a pair of a wire snips imprinted with the words MUSTANG, DROP FORGED, MD6C, and KOREA. The steel is criss-crossed with lines, some of which form semi-rounded shapes, other of which show no obvious pattern.
this tool had weird bumpy scaling all over it that I was very surprised to see go away in evaporust, even if it came off in weird yellow-white puss-like blobs. and it's left behind all these weird lines.
i am confused by most of this.

a rather old but again functional spanner with one jaw edge chamfered and one not, the one not wavy, brittle, and rough, the chamfered one smooth and clean.
