#ToyokoInn room tour! This is a regular, relatively modern single room in Oji, just north of the Yamanote Line — I’d call it “just north of central Tokyo”, really.
Charming little spot, not at all touristy, very convenient, with the most INCREDIBLE train views from the railway side… #JohnDoesJapan
We’re back for another #ToyokoInn room tour! This one’s probably the closest to my mental image of a Toyoko from all my visits: real classic beige Toyoko vibes, just missing the hideous old polyester duvets and the cape cod print on the wall. #JohnDoesJapan

Love to trundle right past my hotel room on the Shinkansen as it arrives 🤣
You see what I mean about the #ToyokoInn usually being right next to the station?
A fourteen storey Toyoko Inn hotel stands above other surrounding buildings. It is mid brown for most of its height and light grey brown on the top two floors. In the foreground are cars at a station car park
Aerial view of a typical Japanese city and mountains beyond. Blocky grey and beige buildings of up to 10 or so floors.
It’s a snowy start today, looking out from my #ToyokoInn over #Tottori to the mountains.
Lots of snow predicted, so crossing fingers and toes for no line closures on the rural trundlers I have planned for this #JohnDoesJapan day 🤞
Follow along, and feel free to RT to bring others with you!
Unrelated yet delightful: stay on the top floor of a #ToyokoInn and you get blue snow from the LED sign panels reflecting onto the flakes.
Brand new #ToyokoInn (Tottori station, kita-guchi one) last night — so newly open that the congratulations flowers are still in the entryway!
Here’s their latest regular single room concept. I much prefer the blue and to have the TV on the wall not the desk. Really opens it up! #JohnDoesJapan
Another great night in my favourite Japanese hotel chain, the #ToyokoInn. Quintessential Japanese “business hotel” experience, and you have to love beige, but I appreciate the consistency of experience, station-side locations and the lovely deep soaking tubs after a day of walking.
