The other messaging we need to stop is the self congratulatory praise of reductions in #TrafficDeaths per vehicle miles traveled over long time periods

Yes, they've gone down since 1970

But, not that much since 2000 and a lot of it is due to more driving

It obscures what needs to be done

More than a million people die on roads every year. Meet the man determined to prevent them Almost 30 years ago, a revolutionary idea changed the way Europe regarded road collisions. It has probably saved countless lives but it's yet to be fully accepted by politicians.
