This is a junk journal page spread on a green Traveler’s Notebook insert. A recent purchase was a cat thrmed tuna, mayonnaise, and cheese bread, and sparlkling peach flavoured gummies. The next page has the label of a chicken onigiri from AEON Max Valu supermarket, ande logo from a napkin at Komeda’s Coffee. The artist used a combination of materials. Pen and pencil crayon to depict the coffee and ice cream pancake meal from Komeda’s, and cut&paste watercolour paper play to create an orange tabby cat as a filler for the upper right hand corner.

This is a close up of the second page with the cut and paste cat on a pink and blue striped mat with green yarn, and the pen&pencil crayon Komeda’s Coffee drawing.

Transcript: The Washing Machine | So… I have a history around washing machines. | The security at my university used to be pretty lax, so I used to study in laundry room intended for residents. It was great for when the study spaces were closed. The washers and dryers also served as great white noise machines for better focus. I believe the waiting area also had a vending machine for the much needed super charge. | During these years, my friend and I rented a Korean mvie called… | The Beautiful Washing Machine. I remember there was almost no dislogue and we got bored.
Transcript (Page 2): Some 18-ish years later, I don’t remember much of the plot. | But I do remember that there was so little going on in the movie that we made up our own dialogue. | It made the movie a lot more fun to watch! | Throwback to… 1997. YTV Brainwash (logo). YTV Brainwash was a Saturday 8:00 am - noon and Sunday 10:00 - noon programming block on YTV. My favourite shows were Dragon Ball, Earthworm Jim, Rugrats, and Alex Mack || Transcript (Pagr 3): Canadian Music Reccs in no particular order. •Blue Rodeo •DeadMau5 •The Barenaked Ladies •Sloan •The Boomtang Boys •Randy Bachman •The Guess Who •The Tragically Hip •Our Lady Peace || Both pages are illustrated in a blue, pink, and white sketchy style. A laundry room is depicted on a TV, a sketched version of the YTV Brainwash logo, and a bottle of Funkwash laundry soap surrounded by maple leaves, designed by the artist.
A return to the roots that I use these spaces for! 🧺

This is a doodle page in aqua and pink. The text reads, What if Tamagotchi had a Canadian beaver? I drew the Kuchipachi characters surrounded by Canadian beaver versions the artist created, along eith maple leaves. Thr bottom text reads, Flashback… Does anyone remember Beaver Lumber? Or Lewiscraft? Cdn. Craft Experts. I only have fuzzy memories of Lewiscraft. My mom used to buy supplies there for knitting and craft. The stories are accompanied by simple doodles representing their logos.

Find joy in small things and hobbies! (Block text and cursive in purple, pink, and black. Inside a pink dotted aqua bubble.) Engage in small acts of resistance, and limit time doomscrolling. (Pink text on a green scribble background.) And… Remember what we learned in our youth… Focus on what you can control, not what you can’t. (Black and pink text on a purple scribble background., Talk to your friends. It’s a great way to help process a bad situation. (Pink text on an aqua scribble background.) This reads like a Sailor Says PSA. (Big, black text.) But… let’s roll with it. Bonus points is you remember this Can-con! (Smaller black text.) The last lines are on a colourful scribble background, next to a doodle of Sailor Moon. Some of the DECOT markers used for this doodle page are seen in the photo. These markers are similar to the Crayola colour changing markers from the 90s.
