Cover of Star Trek issue #44 (Gold Key Comics). A beige background frames the bold red, slanted title “STAR TREK” across the top center. At upper left is a vertical yellow “Gold Key” logo box; at upper right are small black-and-white headshots of Spock and James T. Kirk beside a blue circle showing the price “30¢.”

The main illustration shows Captain Kirk riding a large, ostrich-like alien creature with bright pink plumage on its body and long bare legs, kicking up dust as it runs. Kirk wears a torn gold Starfleet shirt and raises one hand to shield his eyes, looking ahead tensely. Beside him, a robed figure in white with a dark cape rides a smaller, similar bird-like mount while holding a leash attached to a horned, donkey-like alien beast with a wide mouth and short ears. In the background, a small open carriage with a canopy is being pulled along the path, partially obscured by foliage. Green bushes line the dusty road under a pale sky.

At the bottom, black and magenta text reads: “On Planet Fayo, Kirk is the pawn in a palace revolt!”

Worf has just starred in his own (very good) ongoing comic series, Star Trek: Defiant, but it's still wild to think about Kirkman approaching the #TrekComic universe. What he has done with Transformers is outstanding.

Comic cover of Star Trek: The Last Starship #1 showing a golden ship flying through exploding starships in space

IDW's 'Star Trek: The Last Starship' #1 explodes into the universe! The Burn close-up is more compelling & tragic than the bombastic portrayal on-screen. Gorgeous art is sparing & muted and suits the tone really well. Surprise returning character... and Kirk too! #Trekcomic continuity #USSOmega

Comic cover IDW Star Trek #42. The Enterpsie in the grip of the Behemoth - a giant translucent blue jellyfish/octopus

IDW Star Trek #41 & #42 'Behemoth'. An unusual distress signal triggers a confrontation with an immense, space-borne lifeform. Pairs nicely with IDWs current Lovcraftian #TrekComic 'Seeds of Salvation'. Decent character art & fantastic aliens. Spectral, gargantuan Behemoth is gorgeous. Irina!

Cover of Star Trek: Year Five #25 – Epilogue showing Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Uhura, Sulu, Chekov, and Scotty in both TOS and TMP variants, with the refit USS Enterprise behind them against a fractal color background.

Reread 'Star Trek: Year Five', IMO the best #TrekComic series of the IDW era. TOS with a DS9 style continuity and series arc that is far superior to anything we have seen on screen. Characters new & old shine. Solid frontier family theme. Awesome sci-fi. Might be my favourite comic ever #BrightEyes

Star Trek Holo-Ween #1 comic cover. Troi & Picard flee through the Holodeck from a Borg Jack-the-Ripper

Star Trek Holo-Ween #1 comic cover. Troi & Picard flee through the Holodeck from a Borg Jack-the-Ripper

'Star Trek: Holo-Ween' #TrekComic. Interesting Technobabble merges our heroes with classic movie monsters. The story focuses on fear and takes itself quite seriously, overriding any sense of monstery fun. The art felt quite rough & rushed. Tasty tie-ins with previous Trek tales. Verdict:🟡🟡
