An artistic retelling of hs students at a school for the artistically gifted. Though it contains some interesting turns, I overall found it a bit too gratuitous for my liking 4.5/10 💙📚

#susanchoii=flex. #trustexercise = best book I read in 2022, though Hope Jahren’s #labgirl may rival. Theory= 1st section is fractalized version of 2nd. 2nd = broken up bits of other reality. 3rd is linked to first two, in that Claire who visits drama teacher is actually his daughter (gross).
#TrustExercise happened for the brilliant Susan Choi, who got well deserved big booming commercial success and someone whose writing career was nurtured by one of my fave teachers at @Yale --

Ok I read #TrustExercise. incredibly well done; the language exhilarating, challenging, a thrill ride, provocative, engrossing. sworls and sworls. The tone angry, bemused, compassionate, MATERNALLY ANGRY. I am angry at the vulnerability of kids. Eager to do something. #MeToo
