Turnagain Arm: surfing the mighty Alaska tidal bore The Turnagain Arm is home to one of the world's most spectacular and famous tidal bores. The natural phenomenon occurs near Anchorage, Alaska.

The Turnagain Arm tidal bore can be surfed many times, twice a day, and reaches speeds of 24 miles per hour (38.2 kilometers per hour). However, it also has its dangers.
