Awesome! Tapping out some poetry. #typewritertuesday
“Ruby Keeler & Lee Dixon tapping on a typewriter in Ready, Willing, and Able (1937). “It took an awful lot of good dancing to get the typewriter number right,” Ruby said. “We were both exhausted after it, they just don’t do it that way anymore.”

#TypewriterTuesday. Letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, concerning #USAID cuts, on the 1950s Royal Quiet DeLuxe my mom used in college. How are you contacting the government otday?
A call to typewriter enthusiasts: #TypewriterTuesday. I propose once a week, say lunch hour every Tuesday, we type (or hand write on stationery) a letter to an elected official. Personal, epistolary engagement with our politicians. We can share our letters on a common group or page. Who's in?

For #TypewriterTuesday, this is last summer's restoration project. I found this 1949 Smith-Corona Clipper in a damp basement, on the last day of an estate sale last summer. Its owner had died almost 25 years earlier.
It took a lot of cleaning, but it's back in prime condition now.

Two antique typewriters. The top is a black royal, the bottom is a gray Hermes.
I don't know if #TypewriterTuesday is a thing on here, but these are two lovelies I got to know over the weekend, and I'm still thinking about them. 💜
A Corona Four typewriter, circa 1929, set on an antique oak side table. To its left is a small modern-framed black and white photo of a woman with an upswept Gibson Girl hairstyle.

I used to own this little bug of a machine. It's a Corona Four, ca. 1929. The key action was delicate & required quick but not too heavy finger strikes.
The Smithsonian has info on one in their collection here: www.si.edu/object/nmah_...
Good to see @typewriter-man.bsky.social here. Happy #TypewriterTuesday

In addition to fungi, archery, old station wagons and other odd hobbies, a major part of my free (lol) time is devoted to restoring and collecting typewriters and typewriter adjacent things. I spent some time cleaning these beauties today.
