Göbekli Tepe Göbekli Tepe is a significant Neolithic archaeological site in Upper Mesopotamia, Turkey, famous for its large stone pillars and circular structures. It is one of the world's oldest known megaliths, built by hunter-gatherers around 9500 to 8000 BCE, predating agriculture by about a thousand years. Location: Germuş mountains of south-eastern Anatolia, Turkey. Significance: It is often referred to as the world's first temple and has fundamentally changed the understanding of early human societies. Structure: The site features massive T-shaped pillars with abstract and semi-realistic animal carvings, such as lions, boars, and foxes.

It was with awe that I stood in this temple and looked upon the scorpion and the vulture in my studies today at the beautiful Göbekli Tepe.
