When I first read Orwell’s 1984, over 30 years ago, the ideas in it seemed historical. But listening to sessions at #UCEA24 about gag laws in many states seeking to restrict language (even outlawing specific words) as a way to restrict actions, I’m struck by just how prescient it was.
What I appreciate about @drcsampson.bsky.social’s book on School Board politics, shared during the LSJ business meeting at #UCEA24, is that she leans on the capacity of district leaders to dream and to imagine beyond the constraints of the system.
