The USS United States which has called the Delaware River home for the past few decades will find its final resting place at the bottom of the Gulf in early 2026, to serve as the largest artificial reef in the US.

The USS United States under tow at sea, behind Vinik Number 6, a tug owned by the Vinik family tugboat business. The captain of the Tug is Mike Vinik and it is his photograph. The ship is on the horizon, clearly an ocean liner and it is under a low gray sky. The view is looking aft over the port rear quarter of the tug. You can clearly see the line attached to the tug. There is some spume off the waves or maybe some rising mist. It could be the cover for a maritime ghost story book.
