A massive #IndustrialDisaster occurred in Bhopal, #India on #ThisDayInHistory in 1984. A #UnionCarbide chemical plant spewed toxic gases, killing at least 16,000 and causing birth defects & cancers to the present day. The CEO was, of course, never punished, and victims got $500.

Bhopal: Trial run of Union Carbide waste disposal begins today Bhopal, Feb 28 (SocialNews.XYZ) A day after the Supreme Court chose not to intervene in the trial process for incinerating toxic waste moved from Bhopal's abandoned Union Carbide facility to a private plant in Pithampur (near Indore), the Madhya Pradesh government is initiating the process on Friday. After 56 days of preparation, five containers holding hazardous waste from Union Carbide were opened on Thursday at the Pithampur site.
