Today my grandson and his best friend are coming for tea. We are going to celebrate Boy's Day early. To celebrate we hang carp streamers to wish them strength, courage and determination. That's what carp do when they swim up stream. We use samarai helmets and iris flowers to decorate. #Uresenke

At tea class yesterday we used a shikishi that was gifted to me by Diasosho sama. It reads Spirit of Harmony one of the 4 main principles of tea. He gifted to me after reading my book Masayume A Dream Comes True about building my tea house and my love of chanoyu. #uresenke #teaceremony #cnanoyu

Yesterday's tea class. The shikishi says The Mind Is Daily Renewed. The flowers are plum and camilla. This is the rabbit themed tea container we used to honor the solar eclipse. It's shaped like a mallet used to pound mochi. We told the folk tail of how the rabbit got on the moon. #Uresenke #tea

This is the tea bowl I bought for this year of the Snake. We love using it in tea class. I love how tea supports life by connecting it to the seasons and the zodiac and zen. #chanoyu #teaceremony #Uresenke #Japaneseteaceremony
