Chailakhyan was denied his PhD & demoted, while his PhD-supervisor was dismissed. Thanks to some supporters, such as Nikolai #Vavilov, Chailakhyan was able to stay and continue his research in low paying positions, repeatedly getting rehired every time he was fired by Lysenkoists.
