Originally built in 1951 as Bunny’s Bar, this small locals’ casino has been a community hub for over five decades, offering a 25,900-square-foot gaming floor packed with slot machines, bingo, table games, poker, and sports betting. Its beloved Maddy’s Paddy Cafe has also drawn regulars for years. The closure will impact over 120 employees across a variety of job categories, including poker dealers, porters, and security officers, marking a significant loss for the local workforce. In 2006, the casino faced scrutiny when the Nevada Gaming Control Board investigated unusual racing wagers, uncovering illegal race book activities by three employees. Owner Marvin “Mickey” Coleman was fined $250,000 for supervisory failures, a notable moment in the casino’s history. As North Las Vegas grows and changes, the Poker Palace’s closure marks the end of a beloved local landmark that has served the community for over 50 years.
