I have only recently stumbled upon the works of Berlinde Deman, but was immediately pulled in by her strange (and often dark) sound explorations. Her music hovers in that shadowy hinterland that lies somewhere on the edges of neoclassical, ambient, and noise. However, there are moments of odd warmth to be had there as well, as heard in this vaguely melancholic, yet hopeful piece. There’s a yearning here that speaks to my current mindset: a longing for the warmth of the summer sun, for less hectic days, for the quiet weightlessness of the undersea. But for now I will instead float upon these muted tones, content in knowing that all those things lie ahead. Here's some more (US) morning mellow.
