A new album finally graces this week’s #VinylRoastDinner. @HeyColossus’ latest missive, Heaven Was Wild is played at a lower volume than desired due to the youngest’s GCSE revision. Roast beef and a DIPA from @BuxtonBrewery provide relative consolation. Definitely worth a listen.

A Mother’s Day treat on the turntable, but a poignant one as we recognise #PhilCampbellRIP with Motörhead’s seminal live album, No Sleep ‘til Hammersmith including brisket and IPA. What more could anyone want? #VinylRoastDinner

Marillion’s polished pop album is on the deck and the 2022 remix sounds mighty fine. An IPA and gammon is gatecrashed by cauliflower cheese and this week’s #VinylRoastDinner is better for it. Enjoyed catching up with @realalecyclist.bsky.social at Mold Alehouse beforehand.

Interpol’s third album; their last before the original line-up split, is a hugely enjoyable accompaniment to roast beef and IPA. #VinylRoastDinner

Saw Suede on Friday night in a glorious gig, so am following up with a #VinylRoastDinner involving their sophomore album, Dog Man Star. A 6.6% Polly’s pale ale and a chicken dinner with associated trimmings bring a fine weekend to a close.

Arctic Monkeys’ Alex Turner always tried to project his own image of The King, so a glass of Elvis Juice works well in tandem with this superb album. A succulent beef roasting joint gets a rating of Four Stars out of Five. #VinylRoastDinner

Roast lamb, craft ale and Radiohead. As good as it gets for a massive liberal.

Last year didn’t produce a rich seam of new albums, but there were a few that were a glint of gold in an otherwise barren period; one being Geese’s ‘Getting Killed.’ A duo of pork and gammon gives thanks, as does a NEIPA from ARBOR.

2026’s Musical New Year’s Resolution is to properly discover The Fall. Mark E. Smith would be appalled that it’s accompanied by a glass of water, but hopefully he’d appreciate the irony. Roast beef saves the day. Dry January sensibly comes to an end on the 8th. #VinylRoastDinner

Ladies and Gentlemen, a superb Yuletide continues, with another #VinylRoastDinner involving beef, a true classic from Spiritualized and a cheeky little Malbec. May you all float in space.

On this seasonal Xmas #VinylRoastDinner, I give you The Smiths’ The Queen is Dead. Morrissey may be a bit of a turkey these days, so that is the meat of choice. An exquisite cream sherry gives the occasion suitable aplomb. Merry Xmas to all #VinylRoastDinner fans. X

The last #VinylRoastDinner before Christmas showcases Genesis’ best album, ‘Nursery Cryme’. A leg of lamb and a Hafod Lager jostle for attention, but it’s a big ask where Peter Gabriel is involved, who predictably and justifiably steals the show.

Pink Floyd’s debut album gives festive cheer. Tesco club card lamb leg and Vocation add flavour. Various vegetables add garnish, vitamins and fibre. Gravy steals the glory. #VinylRoastDinner

It’s 12 months to the day since I saw Fontaines DC live, so Skinty Fia is serenading the kitchen while beef, garlic stuffing, leeks and crispy roasties ready themselves for glorious consumption. Vocation’s Life and Death provides a very impressive 6.5% punch. #VinylRoastDinner

It’s nigh on unheard of that a #VinylRoastDinner offering is repeated but this week is a justified exception. My battered, Stone Roses debut sounds a bit scratchier and skips more that it did when bought on release, but there’s a reason for that. Oh, brisket and PunkIPA #RIPMani

Another #VinylRoastDinner sourced from the goth section of the collection this week, with The Mission’s debut album on the deck which never disappoints. A San Miguel is in the glass and a great big leg of lamb is in the oven.

A bold statement, but this aural offering is unequivocally the best live album in history. Neil Young & Crazy Horse are on incendiary form. It requires some high level meat accompaniment, so a duo of brisket and lamb rub shoulders with godfather of punk. #VinylRoastDinner

A fine FA Cup weekend of football, beer and a runny scotch-egg is followed by a box-office #VinylRoastDinner involving Radiohead’s most underrated album, @CwrwLlyn’s Porth Neigwl IPA, a succulent pork loin and red cabbage.

The price of brisket is prohibitive. Even a leg of lamb is cheaper. Fields of the Nephilim’s sophomore album distracts me from this fact with a Purple Moose Pale Ale keeping my mind firmly fixed on today’s #VinylRoastDinner

I’m having a week off from Sunday kitchen duties at Chez Dennis, due to the eldest son’s 21st birthday celebrations. As a result, it’s your #VinylRoastDinner with a twist, incorporating a pint of Polly’s, pink roast beef with all the trimmings and Joy Division attire.

Chicken, stuffing and an array of vegetables accompany Prefab Sprout on the deck. However, said vegetable is missing from today’s #VinylRoastDinner at the expense of cauliflower, carrots, broccoli and green beans. I’m sure Paddy will forgive me. IPA is once again in attendance.

An easy choice for this Sunday’s #VinylRoastDinner as The Wedding Present frequent The Live Rooms in The Great City on Tuesday this week. Tommy was my first taste of The Weddoes in my Sixth Form common room in the mid 80s. Today, I taste them in tandem with brisket and IPA.

Brisket makes a welcome return to the Chez Dennis kitchen. It had to be Black Sabbath on the deck this week and their eponymous debut was the vinyl of choice. Vocation’s Life & Death gives the occasion due deference. #RIPOzzyOsbourne #VinylRoastDinner

After Neil Young’s barnstorming headline performance at #Glastonbury2025, it’s only right that he’s also permitted top billing for this week’s #VinylRoastDinner, supported by a whole leg of lamb and a Hazy Jane.
