Panel (a) displays cleared leaf tissue that has been stained pink, viewed under a microscope. Small grey rod-shaped bundles dot the stained leaf. These structures are labelled as raphide bundles. Along the leaf's veins, there are also several rows of small grey spheres. These are labelled as druse crystals. Panel (b) shows a microscope image of clumps of sharp, needle-shaped crystals of calcium oxalate, approximately 100-200 microns in length.
