My first ski run of the season was at Okuibuki Ski Resort. Mount Ibuki holds the Guinness World Record for the world's highest snowfall, with 1182cm. It's a ski resort featuring the latest equipment and facilities alongside a nostalgic atmosphere.

Finally got my Duke PTs fitted at that old-school ski shop run by the grandpa (or uncle?) who absolutely adores Volkl gear in Tokyo! (Photo left) We got chatting about all sorts of things, and he ended up saying that if you're really prioritizing backcountry skiing, something like the Baron is the way to go. (Photo right) Glad I kept my ATOMIC TRACKER 13s. Right now, it seems like Tateyama has the best snow... Guess I'll have to wait until next May 😞
