Robbin Friedman: ALSC Fiscal Officer Candidate, 2025 Election
In an effort to help ALSC members make an informed decision before they vote, today’s blog post consists of a statement from the candidate standing for election as the ALSC Fiscal Officer, **Robbin Friedman**. The candidate submitted a written statement. Voting begins Monday, March 10th.
As ALSC’s current fiscal officer, I have participated in the division’s efforts to maintain stability during a time of upheaval for ALA. In recent years, the association has experienced changes to our membership and staff leadership and implemented a new operating agreement to fund our shared needs. I have represented ALSC to the best of my ability throughout these shifts and worked to share my knowledge with our membership.

I believe we can make our association more transparent and resilient, better prepared to support our libraries and the communities that use them. That includes offering members tools to understand our finances and prioritizing ALSC’s commitment to inclusion, equity and diversity. Building a more equitable organization requires work, time and money and will strengthen ALSC as we move forward.
I am grateful to this organization and its membership for their dedication to libraries and the children and communities they serve. Throughout my time as fiscal officer and budget committee chair, I have learned much about how the division can support our shared values, and what challenges we face in doing so. I intend to continue working towards our resilient future, on the Board or from the membership ranks.
**Robbin Friedman**
