Interior view of Whare Harikoa, a crocheted wharenui glowing under blacklight. The walls, ceiling, and central pou are wrapped in neon crochet panels with vibrant patterns, faces, and ancestral figures. Several people are inside admiring the artwork. The dominant colours are pink, green, blue, and yellow, creating a vivid, joyful atmosphere.
Side exterior view of Whare Harikoa. The crocheted cladding glows in fluorescent pinks and purples, with bright embroidered symbols including stars, koru, feathers, and abstract patterns. A pou with a stylised face and decorative headdress stands prominently in the foreground, covered entirely in textured crochet. In the foreground is Hine Turama. The amo is the atua who gave birth to Matariki.
This is Whare Harikoa, a crocheted wharenui created by artists Lissy and Rudy Cole at The Civic Theatre in Tāmaki Makaurau. Made entirely from fluorescent yarn in bold, bright colours, it glows with joy and warmth. Every surface is soft, vibrant and carefully made by hand. Visitors are welcome to step inside, to sit, breathe and be present. Whare Harikoa, or "House of Joy," brings together toi Māori and contemporary textile art in a way that is both playful and deeply moving.

Lovely autumn day. Cleaned my kāinga; bike ride to see a friend; making pizza and some stitching after dinner #Wairua
