New downtown restaurant may replace Jalapeños by June, Wausau officials say Damakant Jayshi A new restaurant could open as soon as June in the space formerly occupied by Jalapeños Mexican Restaurante & Bar, which conditionally surrendered its alcohol license, according to city officials. “On Monday afternoon we received Jalapeños Restaurant’s conditionally surrendered liquor license,” City Clerk Kaitlyn Bernarde told this newspaper Thursday. She was clarifying comments made earlier in the week at a Wausau Public Health and Safety Committee meeting.
