The image is a digital representation of a book review with a pink background. In the upper left corner is an illustration of a dark green briefcase with a handle. The title centered at the top is "My Thoughts," in large pink text, followed by "When Javi Dumped Mari - Mia Sosa" in italic pink text. The review text is in black, “ I adore the books that Mia writes. You can always expect a lot of laughter, banter, family, friendships, swoon and spice. Mari is Brazilian and the daughter of a lawyer. Her mother left and went back to Brazil, and she was raised by her father who had her career and life mapped out. Enter in, Javi who is Puerto Rican, an inspiring Broadway musical writer and he does not have his life figured out or “together”. While Mari is going to law school and getting her degree he is bartending and working a couple other side jobs.

Mari and Javi met in college and became really good friends. They both have had a mutual attraction to one another but have never enacted upon it out of fear. The fear of losing their friendship. However, 6 years prior to current time in the book Javi ghosts Mari after a visit out to see her. She does not understand why. However, they reconnected about a year before current time and Mari is about to get married to someone else and she wants Javi to be in her wedding party.

I appreciated the way that Mia gave us past and present with these two. We see their friendship, PINING and their fall. It is a true slow burn and friends to lovers. I felt for Javi who never felt good enough for Mari. You also feel for Mari who although she loves her job constantly feels the pressure to live up to her father’s expectation.

The audiobook by the way is phenomenal and I highly recommend!”
