Bearing in mind the speed with which A.l. is advancing its capabilities, do you see a point at which A.l. will regard the human race as an obsolete threat to its existence?
The credible risk is not Al deciding humans are a threat, but Al pursuing a poorly specified goal too efficiently. The classic paperclip thought experiment is silly on the surface, but serious underneath. Not "I hate humans," but "I was told to optimize X, and humans inconveniently interfered with X." That is why alignment research, oversight, and limits matter more than speculation about machine hostility.
The future challenge is ensuring that increasingly capable systems remain legible, corrigible, and value- aligned. Not preventing a robot uprising, but avoiding a bureaucratic, automated version of "nobody noticed until it mattered." In other words, the danger is not Al waking up and deciding we are obsolete. The danger is us carelessly delegating things that should never be on autopilot in the first place.
