A striking African wild dog, also known as a painted dog, stands alertly in tall, dry grass. Its coat is a patchwork of black, brown, yellow, and white, creating a unique and beautiful pattern. The dog's ears are pointed, and its expression is attentive. The background is blurred but shows a muted brown and tan landscape.

It was lovely getting to see the painted dogs again at Chester Zoo with @eleanorpinkney.bsky.social now that they’re back on display in the Heart of Africa area.

It may not be #wilddogwednesday, but I’m still very excited to see that they’re finally arriving @dudleyzoo.bsky.social. I’ll have to head over there again soon (and hopefully it will be 3rd time lucky trying to see wolverine kits).

A striking photograph of an African wild dog, also known as a painted dog, standing in tall, dry grass at sunset. The dog's coat is a patchwork of brown, black, and tan markings. Its large ears are erect, and it gazes intently towards the camera. The background is blurred, emphasizing the dog as the subject.

A young African wild dog, also known as a painted dog, stands in a dry, sandy environment. Its fur is a mix of black, brown, and white patches, giving it a spotted appearance. The dog's ears are large and erect, and it looks directly at the camera with an alert expression. The background is blurred, drawing attention to the dog in the foreground.

I need to take more photos for #wilddogwednesday, but the fact that they keep coming out blurry isn’t helping!

Looking for photos for #WildDogWednesday I came across some I took at West Midlands Safari Park back in 2020. Even though they’re not great photos, I was excited to see the distinctive markings that I now use to identify these individuals for my data collection.
