Incoming! A #brownfalcon captured by #WildTracker participants ramshackle_shackers in Gardners Bay. Its dark 'malar stripes' (under-eye markings) are thought to reduce sun glare, a function confirmed in Peregrine Falcons. However, the exact purpose for other species remains a mystery.

Logs act like natural highways, concentrating animal movement along predictable paths. Plus, when animals cross or perch on a log, you get a clearer view than if they were hidden in dense vegetation, making ID easier. #WildTracker

A milestone for #WildTracker! Our first camera trap photo of a #whitefooteddunnart (Sminthopsis leucopus) has been uploaded. These tiny, nocturnal #marsupials are insect-eaters & rarely seen in the wild.
