This is a photograph taken with in natural daylight and also with the warm glow of lit candles. The subject is of 4 greeting cards, arranged flat on a wooden table and the subjects are holly, mistletoe, fir and ivy boughs. The designs are all reproduced from linocuts, printed in green and red and surrounding them on the table is some evergreen foliage, some candles in star-shaped brass holders and a couple of fir cones. I wanted to create a warm atmosphere in this rustic, nature-inspired set up.
It's getting chillier now and doesn't seem too unreasonable to be thinking about my winter season cards - I've lots of designs, mostly inspired by festive foliage and nature.
