#WolfAwarenessWeek may be over but our ‘State of States’ series is just getting started. New Mexico is on deck! The critically endangered Mexican Gray Wolf is the 2nd rarest wolf in North America. (1/2)
#WolfAwarenessWeek While we've seen fewer wolves being bred & sold in the pet trade over the years, the market for wolfdogs is still substantial. Due to their unsuitability in home environments, many owners must relinquish their animals. Learn more at wolfhaven.org/education/materials/wolfdogs

Once roaming from TX to NY, fewer than 20 red wolves remain wild—found only in eastern NC. These rare, resilient wolves need our voices and protection to thrive again.

🐺 #WolfAwarenessWeek Rancher conflicts pose a significant threat to wolves in areas where federal protections have been removed. The meat industry pressures government agencies to roll back protections for wolves - despite Wildlife Services' indiscriminate #WarOnWildlife in protection of animal ag.
Our #WolfAwarenessWeek series continues with Minnesota wolves! As home to the largest Gray Wolf population in the Lower 48, Minnesota can set the tone for wolf policy across the country. (1/2)
In addition to #WolfAwarenessWeek, it's also #NationalEstatePlanningWeek - a moment to encourage us to protect our loved ones & plan ahead! We hope you consider supporting wolves for years to come by making a gift to Wolf Haven in your will. For more info, please visit wolfhaven.org/plannedgiving

#WolfAwarenessWeek While there were famous reintroductions of gray wolves to Yellowstone National Park and central Idaho in 1995 and 1996, many states saw wolves return on their own. In WA, OR, and CA, wolves migrated in from Canada and from post-reintroduction populations in MT, ID, & WY.
Misinformation has long fueled fear and misunderstanding about wolves, but science tells a different story.

It’s Wolf Awareness Week! 🐺 Once roaming across most of the world, wolves were hunted to near extinction out of fear and myth — not danger. Those fears still linger, and wolves are still killed needlessly today. Speak up for coexistence, respect, and understanding. 🌎💛
