Here I am at day 31 of the #WomenReads challenge, and I have to say, check out Flannery O'Connor. These are short stories, which I love to read when I'm too busy to get completely sucked into a novel but still feel t/need to read something. She's someone we all should check out. πŸ“šπŸ’™ #BookSky

How did we already get to day 30 of #WomenReads without Fannie Flagg? You’ve probably all heard about Fried Green Tomatoes, but with few exceptions, I have liked most of her books. This one is why I was no longer allowed to read in bed. Cry on one page, die laughing three pages later. πŸ“šπŸ’™#BookSky

It's day 29 of #WomenReads and I'm sticking with Sci-fi/fantasy. Le Guin is someone I personally think everyone should be familiar with because she does this genre so well. πŸ’™πŸ“š#BookSky

On day 28 of #WomenReads we are heading over to sci-fi/fantasy. I read this for a book report in elementary school, but it still holds up as an adult. For many of us it was an intro to t/genre. Do yourself a solid-read t/whole series. πŸ“šπŸ’™#BookSky

For Day 27 of #WomenReads, I offer up the book that brought Dame Agatha Christie into the spotlight and finally got her published. Long considered one of the world's best writers, the public got to see it here first. This is where we 1st met the now infamous Poirot. #BookSky πŸ’™πŸ“š

For day 25 of #WomenReads I'm submitting a two-fer. You may have heard of this author -she's a classic. But what you might not know is she has also written cozy little gothic thrillers. AWITD is a book of short stories and ALFLC is a novel. You absolutely need to read these. πŸ§΅πŸ“š #BookSky

Day 24 of #WomenReads is inspired by the creation of the Oxford Dictionary. It celebrates the power of language & the history of women. Two thumbs up. πŸ’™πŸ“š #BookSky

Day # 23 of #WomenReads is an intense read and not for the faint of heart. People seem split on the ending, but no one can doubt the power of the writing. It's almost black history month, & I'd recommend it for that, too. πŸ“šπŸ’™#BookSky

Day 22 of #WomenReads is an all-time fave. This was a beautifully written book. She has others I enjoyed, but none matched this one for me. If you missed it somehow, I highly recommend it. If my to-read pile wasn't so huge, I would read it again.πŸ’™πŸ“š#BookSky

On Day 21 of #WomenReads I offer up a bit of nonfiction. This is a true story of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. I think it’s especially relevant now w/so many people taking their own comforts for granted. πŸ’™πŸ“š#BookSky

For day 20 of #WomenReads we have more historical fiction and not too far from the same time period. This one is a little lighter, but very enjoyable. πŸ’™πŸ“š#BookSky

Redoing day 19 of #WomenReads because at 2 in the morning I forgot tags. This is historical fiction and a very good representative for the genre. Based on true events and real women like Osla Benning & the work they did in WWII at Bletchley Park. πŸ’™πŸ“š #BookSky

Day 18 of #WomenReads is very early science fiction. We've all heard the story and/or seen at least one version of the story, but have you actually read it, yet? πŸ’™πŸ“š#BookSky

Day 17 of #WomenReads is Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen. IIRC, this was a debut novel, and if that's the case it's even more impressive. I'm kind of a sucker for magical realism, and this book epitomizes it. πŸ’™πŸ“š#BookSky

Day 16 is one of my all-time favorites. We can’t have a #WomenReads challenge without Their Eyes Were Watching God. πŸ’™πŸ“š

For day 15 of #WomenReads I offer up two books. Many of us are familiar with Practical Magic, so you should know there’s a prequel. Also, I loved her book of short stories all interwoven through the years in this one house. πŸ“šπŸ’™

For days 13 & 14 of #WomenReads, let's go revisit ancient mythology in the best way. I offer you 1 of t/2 versions of the Odyssey (Emily Wilson) you still need to read as well as Circe (Madeline Miller). I do love a good retelling and these don't disappoint. And that's me, all caught up now. πŸ’™πŸ“š

Days 8-10 of #WomenReads on #BookSky are together because I πŸ’™ this trilogy so much. I love historical fiction & she really did her homework here. I enjoyed the story and how much I learned from it. πŸ“š

Day #7 of #WomenReads is another who used a pseudonym to be taken seriously. It’s widely considered 1 of the best books of all time. πŸ“šπŸ’™ #BookSky

Day 6 of #WomenReads is one of those books you see recommended by book clubs, so you have certain ideas & write it off in your mind. But I πŸ’™ how it's written, & it's based on memories & accounts from the Tennessee Children’s Home Society operated by Georgia Tann from the 1920s to 1950. πŸ“š #BookSky

Day 5 of the #WomenReads challenge is SE Hinton. If you haven't heard of Outsiders, where have you been? If you are Gen X, you may not have even noticed she was a woman. Joanne was hardly the first to come up with it. It's a book, it's a movie. Stay gold. πŸ’™πŸ“š #BookSky

Man, I am so behind on the #WomenReads challenge right now. I hadn't even realized what day I was on. Four days ago. But here's a holiday banger you might not know about for my day 4: πŸ“š πŸ’™I do recommend it as part of your holiday rotation.

So for day 3 I just ask you to sort of consider another side of the conversation & step out of your comfort zone. Acknowledging other people's struggles or truths does NOT subtract from your own. #WomenReads πŸ’™πŸ“š

For day 3 of the #WomenReads challenge, I'm going to offend a whole bunch of people again & suggest this one. I have spoken about systemic racism here a lot & have tried pointing out things like how much harder it is statistically for black businesses to get loans, etc. & people get offended. 🧡1

For day 2 of the #WomenReads challenge, I'm taking it way back. I was very young when I read this, but it may be where I got my love of goats & mountains. It's a feel-good children's classic, but if you haven't yet read it, it's not too late. Probably. πŸ’™πŸ“š

I'll bite. Today's book is one I just finished. First book of the year. Katabasis by RF Kuang. It's not as bloated as I'd heard. I thought it was written in an interesting way and I enjoyed some of the asides in there. A solid rec if you're into fantasy fiction. πŸ’™πŸ“š #WomenReads #BookChallenge
