Dear colleagues,

We cordially invite you to the 68th Solidarity Meeting in Wedding.

Topic: Works Council Elections 2026

At our March Solidarity Meeting, we want to focus on the works council elections, which will now take place from 1 March to 31 May 2026.

In Germany, works councils are the body responsible for co-determination within the workplace. In social work organisations, there are often no works councils, or very few that are militant.

Let’s exchange views on the works council elections across organisational boundaries, fill in the gaps in our knowledge together, support one another and discuss how we can establish more militant works councils in social work.

What’s your works council like so far? Are you standing for election this year? How are preparations going in your workplace? Are there divisions or conflicts?

Works council members can also be important allies when filing a hazard report as part of our campaign “Burned Out? Call Out! – File a hazard report now!”.

In the first part of the evening, as usual, we will come together in a friendly

setting to discuss conflicts, difficult situations, disputes and challenges in our workplaces, and to offer each other

mutual support and encouragement, so that we do not simply

accept the increasing pressure, but stand up to it.

With warm regards,

Solidarity Group for Social Work

⚠️ Our current campaign:

“Burned Out? Call Out! – Report a hazard now!”

Shared by a fellow Berlin works council this morning:

In what ways is your WoCo activating section 80.1.7 WCA after last night's CDU/AfD warning shot? Are you requesting the employer to draft up specific anti racist and political education actions?

In a victory for salary transparency and HelloFresh Works Council, the Berlin Regional Labour Court confirmed in March 2024 (just received the full ruling in May) that @HelloFresh CANNOT classify salary pay-bands as "business secrets". #salarytransparency #workscouncil #betriebsrat
