Moin zusammen!
Heute ist Welttag der Ameisenbären. Ich mag sie, aber auch diese faszinierenden Geschöpfe sind bedroht. 😥
Falls ihr heute einem Ameisenbären begegnet, seid bitte besonders nett zu ihm.

🐾Anteaters are mammals
🦷They have no teeth
👅They use their long sticky tongues to eat 35,000 ants and termites per day!
🐜The are found in South and Central America (and London Zoo!)

Against a greenish-gray background: a large, strongly built, bipedal anteater with blue fur, a bushy tail, a black and light-blue "vest" pattern, large claws on his hand, and an angry facial expression.
They say today is World Anteater Day... so here is a standalone picture of Giant Blue Anteater, made in 2020!

Hey, it’s #WorldAnteaterDay and I’m coincidentally working on a digital painting of a giant anteater (as well as some relatives).

🐜 World Anteater Day (Nov 19)
Anteaters quietly shape ecosystems: they curb ant/termite outbreaks, aerate soil, and create micro-habitats—strengthening forests, grasslands, and even farms (less need for pesticides). Help: support corridors & rescues, and share. 🌿💚

It's #WorldAnteaterDay today so what better time to reunite the giant anteater skeleton in the UofG Zoology Museum with its missing hyoid bone. The bone had been stored separately for decades as unidentified. Now I just need some glue and wire to reattach it...
Digital painting of a giant anteater which has long fur and small head with long nose. Its fur or hair is striped in shades of cream, beige, brown, and black, and it is walking along an abstract-looking sandy hill.
Happy #WorldAnteaterDay to those who celebrate!

The Tamandua pattern’s somehow remained me of a traffic controller’s fluorescent safety vest ,so I drew it with a helmet on top lol
I’d be happy if it makes you feel all fluffy and relaxed.
Giant Anteaters are solitary, intelligent animals that use their two-foot tongues to consume 30,000 ants daily. They are threatened by habitat loss from ranching and soy farming for animal feed. Choosing plant-based foods protects their rainforest homes. #WorldAnteaterDay #WorldVeganMonth🌱
Engraving of an anteater from a book. The anteater is standing in side profile, with a long thin tongue protruding from its long snout. It has a black stripe running from its upper front legs toward its spine. The coat is dense, coarse, and shaggy with long hairs. It is standing on four legs, and has sharp front claws. The caption under the engraving reads: 'Tamanoir, or Ant-Bear - Myrmecophaga jubata'.
Good morning to everyone, but especially to all the anteaters, for today is their special day!
To celebrate World Anteater Day, here is an engraving from the book 'The Illustrated Natural History' by J. G. Wood, published in 1863.
