Book illustration of the bone, with “Scrotum humanum written above

Happy #worlddinosaurday to this suspected Megalosaurus femur part - thought to be the 1st published illustration of a dino bone, in 1676

(Believed at the time to belong to a giant or Roman war elephant)

It then appeared in 1763 with this name - which didn’t become scientifically recognised
