#AmPlotting this morning for 15 minutes before work because this discovery writer needs to reread things before moving forward.
#WritingInTheMargins
Today’s #WritingInTheMargins was going through an older #StoryGrid infographic about the heroic journey and adding it to Plottr. Sometimes in my craft I have to pause and remind myself of the general roadmap so I don’t get lost in the discovery writing.
#AmPlotting
It’s tough to fight for your dreams when reality gets in the way, but the things on my plate I’ve been carrying for months now have an end date. I #AmWriting again and it’s glorious!
#WritingInTheMargins
No actual writing with the muse today, but think she’s silent because my grief has had small waves lately because of another death in my spouse’s family.
And that’s okay. Sometimes we just need to process.
#WritingInTheMargins
That moment when you’re writing and realize your muse sets up the perfect moment to reintroduce a character who’s going to complicate things for *everyone* & you just sit back & rub your hands maniacally, excited for the next day’s writing session.

No writing this morning because parenting meant meeting with the kiddo’s teachers earlier. But on the flip side I got to write while kiddo had swimming lessons last night, and for nearly an hour.
Write while you can, where you can.

Me writing: yay this is decent!
Me checking in the water I’m boiling as I prep lunches and realize that I set the water to low instead of high while writing: 🙇🏻♀️

Was able to get back to it in my routine this morning. Shorter workout, then writing.
And that piece that I didn’t k ow where to go next? I reread the previous chapter and realized what I had planned and “click” everything moved forward again.

It’s a PA Day here and I have deadlines and work client interviews for the day job but still showed up.
Me 200 words in: so I have these options.
Muse: thanks for setting this up, let me think on it.
Me: any time.

Wrote some valentines then sat down to write more fiction in my 15 minute window.
Muse decided to lay it out and start teasing the big bad with a name.

Me, up & ready to write: What happens next?
Muse: actually… you need your process your mom again.
Me: because I shared about being there for her lumbar puncture & I was 😥?
Muse: yep. Start here.
Me: 1300 words later, 😭: thanks, I needed that.
Muse: I know.

Muse: get out of bed. I have thoughts.
Me: but… comfy!
Muse: STORY thoughts.
Me, after getting ready: now?
Muse: I’ll wait for tea.
Me, ☕️ Listening: really? 😮 this is good. What happens next?
Muse: stay tuned for tomorrow. 😏
#WritingLife #WritingInTheMargins after a late night.
Sitting at my desk.
Muse: oooh, early writing! Extra time.
Me: sorry, no, kiddo camp sign up.
Muse: but… computer!
Me: nope. Need to organize.
Muse: this is my time!
Me: yes, but with summer sorted I won’t be distracted.
Muse: more me time? fine!

Did my morning routine and my muse showed up. It was only 15 minutes so she’s getting impatient to do more. But alas, that’s all I can afford.
And that’s better than none.
#WritingLife #WritingInTheMargins
Me: okay let’s write. What happens next?
Muse: yeah, about that. We’re going here.
Me: but my notes from yesterday don’t say that.
Muse: yeah, this is better.
Me (typing out Muse’s thoughts): this IS better. Same direction tomorrow?
Muse: we’ll see.

Got another 935 words out last night. I chose channeling my day job and parenting frustration into my novel into wallowing.

This morning was tough. Read too late last night. But dragged myself out of bed. The kiddo did too and we snuggled after yoga as I got a few more words out. Now to work.
#writinglife #writinginthemargins
Showed up to work out, then to snuggle with my 9 yo, then to write with my muse for 15 minutes. She approved the snuggling and still gave me words.
