Seishirou Sakurazuka and Subaru Sumeragi fanfic summary: July 1999, set after X-12/Ikebukuro. Seishirou and Subaru are tasked to investigate the murder of an American diplomat. Takes place after Tokyo Interludes but can be read stand-alone. sample text from chapter 1: Looking good in front of a camera was one thing, but looking happy— well, that took skill. David Matthews was obviously a professional diplomat. Ergo, like recognized like, birds of a feather and all, or so to say, Seishirou knew the power of a well-practiced smile. Pity about that smile. Seishirou walked past the cordoned-off tape, careful not to disturb the scene. David Matthews was definitely not smiling now. In fact, it was hard to tell where his face was. David Matthews had been so brutally murdered, that the cleaning maid who had found his body in the morning screamed herself silly and nearly fainted from her own hysterics. Seishirou had no such qualms. Blood, corpses, bodies, none of it bothered him. Still, he was rather glad that he had worn his second-best pair of leather shoes.
