China’s Y-30 Medium Airlifter Makes First Flight in Xi’an
Aviation News – China’s new turboprop-powered Y-30 medium airlifter has completed its maiden flight at Xi’an, marking a significant step in the country’s effort to strengthen its tactical airlift capabilities. The aircraft is built by Xi’an Aircraft Corporation (XAC) under the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) and has been the subject of long-standing speculation. Images circulating online show the Y-30 flying from XAC’s airfield in Central China, closely matching earlier AVIC models displayed as a “New Medium Transport,” indicating the program has now entered formal flight testing.
