It has a dark gray back, wings, tail and bib, a white chest and collar, and a distinctive yellow-pink bill. These birds are relatively tolerant of human presence and can be found in urban areas near water bodies. They forage on the ground in pairs or flocks and are known for their repetitive "chew-wee-chew" song and nasal "wee" call. Native to South America, they have been introduced to the Hawaiian Islands.
