well this a project that absorbed way more time than I planned. mcp23017 and encoders to control raspberry pi running #Zynthian. turns out the only solid core wire I had on hand was just red or 0.1mm magnet wire. but it's 99% done. just need the ground bus, but thats tomorrow's problem.
I just used a RPi4 I had around, but they sell zynthian as a full kit for $500, and it honestly might be worth it. Just for a good audio input/output card and the screen I'd already be in the $200 range, and still need knobs/encoders, midi in, and an enclosure. #beatsteppro #zynthian
Discovered the #Zynthian Raspberry Pi based groovebox, so I get to use all my favorite linux synths/instruments in a stand-alone device. The amount of work that has gone into the software/UI for this thing is basically, as far as I've experienced nearly unheard of for an open-source hardware project

Open source projects are doing very well in the electronic music production/synth world - projects like #zynthian and #surgext are really standouts for building a lot of functionality into end-user usable packages.
The big thing holding them back are UI polish and hardware (for Zynthian)...
Just saw that LV2 audio plugins (used kn #Zynthian and elsewhere) manifests uses #RDF, in the Turtle format.
