The area around Canterbury Cathedral that was bombed was rebuilt in much the same style as what had been previously been there. No modern high-rise buildings, nothing above 2 or 3 stories.

This movie is TRULY GORGEOUS.
Cinematographer Erwin Hillier deserves to have his name brought up.
Looks like he cut his teeth assisting Murnau briefly, who passed him along to assist on Lang's M (1931). After this he'd go on to do #TCMParty favourite, I Know Where I'm Going (1945).
